Mr Brian CooksonTestimonial: David William Austin
During 2004, including the period of our most recent inspection, David was invited to supplement our General Studies team, delivering various components of the A and AS specifications. This he was able to do by supplementing the college's course materials with his own topical, up-to-date resources. In his typically committed and professional style, he was able to make some of these materials available on the web and steer students towards other Internet resources.
The college, which has recently secured Beacon status following outstanding inspection results, has asked David to teach in other departments from time to time; heads of department have noted his punctilious, conscientious approach.
JFG, Principal
Ms Pamela Chapman BATo whom it may concern:
Mr Austin was employed on a full-time supply basis to cover the I.T. lessons of a member of staff who had been taken seriously ill.
Right from the start Mr Austin stepped into his role with confidence and enthusiasm. His classroom management is good and he responds well to pupils' needs. He has done more than could be required of a teacher on supply; he arrives very early in the mornings and has been preparing lessons as well as marking work.
We had an ‘Ofsted’ inspection during Mr Austin’s fourth week with us. He rose to the challenge and was observed by inspectors who agreed with me that we had been very fortunate to find him!
I am quite certain that he will be an asset to any I.T. department and wish him well for the future.
Mr Alan Burgess BMusReference for Mr D Austin:
Mr Austin was asked to cover the long-term absence of our ICT teacher. He taught ICT to all pupils in the school and also taught English to a Year 7 class.
He proved a most dependable colleague and managed behaviour of the pupils effectively in his own distinctive manner. He did all that what was required of him as a teacher both in the classroom and in diligently fulfilling duties at break time and after school.
I observed Mr Austin teaching a Year 8 ICT class. The pupils were very attentive to his demonstration and settled immediately to the task he set them.
Mr Austin’s attendance, time-keeping and personal appearance were all excellent.

David William Austin
I have been able to observe Mr Austin’s teaching and he is clearly keen on his subject and anxious to involve his charges at all points in the learning process. Whilst remaining traditional in his classroom manner, he employs modern delivery techniques in his lessons with considerable use of information technology.

Reference - David Austin
David is a well-balanced individual who is always keen to hear other
people’s point of view. He certainly knows how to get on with
people, of any age, without being too familiar and losing his
integrity. He always puts his professionalism first, yet retains
strong views, largely drawn from his extensive experience, on many
issues both within and beyond the workplace. He is a most reliable
and dependable person.
